Dr. Bonakdar announces purchase of Ulthera®, the acclaimed non-surgical Ultrasound lifting procedure-Not a facelift but an uplift!
As seen in Rachel Ray, The Doctors and The View, plus touted by big-name beauty editors from Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and more.
What is Ulthera®?
Ulthera® System is a brand new treatment that lifts and tones loose skin with no downtime and no surgery.
How does Ulthera® work?
Ulthera® uses two types of ultrasound. First, the ultrasound imaging part called DeepSEE™ allows visualization of the deep tissue layers. Next, focused ultrasound therapy called Ultherapy delivers heat to these deep tissues to jumpstarts the body’s natural renewal of tired collagen.
This results in creation of new, stronger collagen that tones and lifts the face and neck. By heating both the dermal layer and the deep fibro-muscular support layer, which up to now could only be addressed with a surgical facelift, Ulthera® is able to shift the skin back into a more youthful position, from the inside out.
Is Ulthera® Safe?
Ultrasound energy has a proven track record and has been used in medicine for more than 50 years. Ulthera® has been cleared by the FDA after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and tens of thousands of treatments worldwide without any adverse events.
Is Ulthera® surgery?
No. Ulthera® addresses the skin and the support layer below it, without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It results in an “uplift” not a “facelift.” While it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a facelift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
Is there any downtime?
No, there is no downtime or restrictions after an Ulthera® treatment. You are able to return to your normal activities right away.
Are there any side effects?
No, usually there are no side effects except for slight redness for up to an hour or so following the treatment. Rarely slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch may occur but it is mild and temporary in nature.
What does Ulthera® treatment feel like?
Comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, but there can be some discomfort while the energy is being delivered. This is temporary and a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated. This sensation is actually tiny amounts of concentrated ultrasound energy being deposited below the surface of the skin. Discomfort can be minimized and will be discussed during your consultation.
Is Ulthera® safe with laser and filler treatments?
Lasers address issues in the more superficial layers of the skin such as pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. Ulthera® addresses the deep skin layer and the foundational layer that up to now could only be treated with surgery. Therefore, Ulthera® is compatible and complementary with laser and filler treatments!
What are the results of Ulthera®?
Clinical studies demonstrate that Ulthera® consistently lifts the brow after just one treatment, creating a more ‘open’ look to the eyes and a more refreshed look overall. Ulthera also lifts the skin on the cheeks, results in a more defined jaw line and neck. In addition to the visible effects of lifting and tightening, the invisible result of Ulthera® are firmer, toner skin.
Who is a good candidate for Ulthera®?
A good candidate for Ulthera® is anyone with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking and feeling less firm.
While Ulthera® is not a replacement for surgery, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, financially or logistically.
Ulthera® is also ideal for those who want to “stay ahead of the game” or those looking to prolong the positive effects of their previous surgical lift.
How many treatments are needed?
The majority of patients only need one treatment. Some may benefit from more than one treatment depending on their skin laxity and their body’s biological response to the ultrasound and collagen rebuilding process.
How long does the Ulthera® treatment take?
A full face and neck treatment takes 45-60 minutes. A lower face and neck treatment takes 30 minutes. An upper face treatment takes 15-30 minutes.
How long does it take to see results?
Improvement can begin immediately with some contraction and firming. As with exercising to build muscle, the building of new collagen to lift and tone skin occurs gradually over the following 2-3 months and continues for up to 6 months.
How long do the results last?
Patients treated with Ulthera® still have fresh, young collagen a year following their procedure. Because your skin continues to age, yearly treatments may be desired to keep pace with the aging process.
