Every patient is different. While Dr. Bonakdar will provide specific post-treatment care instructions based on your unique situation, here are some common Dos and Don’ts to consider following your laser skin care treatment:

Do:

  • Apply a cool pack to the treated site as needed during the first day or two following treatment.
  • Clean the treated area two to five times a day with saline or other solution recommended by Dr. Bonakdar.
  • Apply skin care treatments and moisturizers recommended by Dr. Bonakdar to assist your healing process.
  • Use physical sunscreen that is formulated for sensitive, rejuvenating skin.
  • Elevate your head with an extra pillow at night.
  • Stop smoking.  Smoking complicates the healing process.

Don’t:

  • Pick at skin. Picking at skin or scabs can cause scarring. Scabs should be treated with a lubricating cream until they come off naturally.
  • Use Retin-A, Benzyl Peroxide or glycolic acid for several weeks. Dr. Bonakdar will give detailed instructions on how to best care for your skin throughout your recovery.
  • Tan or get chemical peels throughout the treatment series.
  • Get fillers or other injectables within two weeks before or after your treatment.
  • Cause trauma to the treated area. This may mean avoiding hot baths, massages or vigorous exercise for the first few days following treatment.
  • Fail to closely follow all of Dr. Bonakdar’s instructions for a successful recovery.
